We’re excited to share that the CFS Hygienic Design Training has also found a home in the new, purpose-built CFS Institute facility within the Intralox regional headquarters in Shanghai—an investment driven by the continued success and growing demand for CFS training in the region.

Developed for professionals in food manufacturing, this immersive training delivers in-depth, practical instruction on applying hygienic design principles to real-world processing environments. Whether attendees are new to hygienic design or seeking to deepen their expertise, Hygienic Design Training (HDT) provides tools and frameworks that translate directly to everyday plant decision-making.

Learning by Doing: A Practical Approach to Hygienic Design

What sets HDT apart is its hands-on, application-based format. Participants take an active role in identifying design flaws, assessing equipment and infrastructures for cleanability, and building collaborative solutions in team-based breakout sessions. Throughout the training, CFS experts guide participants through the key elements of hygienic design, emphasizing risk reduction, operational efficiency, and long-term food safety performance.

Topics explored during the training include:

  • Principles of hygienic design and their impact on sanitation
  • Common design pitfalls in food processing environments
  • Equipment and facility design improvements to that drive efficiency and reduce contamination risk

The Shanghai facility provides a unique, real-world training environment tailored to support experiential learning and cross-functional collaboration among professionals in engineering, quality assurance, sanitation, and operations roles.

Elevating Training Opportunities in China

The brand new CFS Institute training facilities in Shanghai are part of a global training strategy that ensures companies can grow their internal expertise and strengthen food safety cultures—across borders, close to home, and tailored to local needs.
