CFS Talks: Ensuring Long-Term Spiral Performance Through Better Cleaning and Maintenance

As part of the CFS Talks webinar series, Commercial Food Sanitation (CFS) hosted a session focused on improving spiral performance through better cleaning and maintenance practices.
Spiral conveyors play a critical role in many production lines, and when they fail, the impact extends across the entire operation—creating bottlenecks, reducing efficiency, and disrupting production flow. 

During this session, originally presented on June 23, 2026, CFS' Food Safety Expert Olivier Couraud and Intralox' Spiral Expert David Alderson emphasized the strong connection between cleaning and maintenance. Effective sanitation helps prevent buildup and wear, ultimately reducing maintenance needs and supporting more reliable, long-term equipment performance. 

The discussion focused on practical actions, including structured maintenance routines, proper cleaning and drying practices, and proactive inspection approaches. Together, these efforts support both operational efficiency and food safety, reinforcing the importance of an integrated approach on the plant floor.
