Spiros Kouvaras joins Commercial Food Sanitation (CFS) as a Food Safety Specialist with a Fruits and Vegetables focus. He has over eight years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, and sanitation with versatile companies in the confectionary, dairy, beverage, and dry manufacturing industries.
His most recent role as a Food Safety Manager for PepsiCo included responsibilities such as total plant sanitation, microbiology, and delivering highest GFSI and AIB audit results, in a 6-line continuous operation environment. Previously, as a Quality Assurance Systems Manager for Concord Foods, he upgraded facility infrastructure to enhance food safety and operational efficiency, as well as, eliminating recurring costly failures by executing CAPAs, and refining QC measures.
Spiros is driven by a passion of ensuring the supply chain is held to the highest food safety, quality, and sanitation standards while expanding his technical knowledge and expertise in multiple areas of the food industry.
Spiros holds a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Florida and a Master's degree in Science with a specialization in Food Safety Regulations from Johns Hopkins University. He is also certified in HACCP, PCQI, SQF Practitioner, and Acidified Food Manufacturing, and is bilingual in English and Greek.
