Pack Expo 2025 On-Demand Education: Turning Sanitation into a Competitive Advantage
Originally presented September 30, 2025, at the Pack Expo Innovation Stage, Dan Schmitz’s session, Turning Sanitation into a Competitive Advantage, is now available on-demand.
In North America, manufacturing efficiency is driven by technology, workforce strategies, and operational excellence—where cleanability of equipment is an often-overlooked factor.
Equipment designed for effective sanitation makes cleaning faster, less labor-intensive, and more repeatable. Hygienic design also supports lower operating costs—minimizing waste, streamlining changeovers, and reducing the use of water, chemicals, and energy. Although hygienic design of equipment is vital, operational efficiency only becomes achievable when processes and procedures are sound. In engineered systems, the intersection of process efficiency and hygienic design is a strategic advantage.
In this session, Dan Schmitz, CFS Director of Operations, explores how sanitation drives efficiency across consumer packaged goods, logistics, and food processing operations.
