Liping (Penny) Yu - Food Safety Specialist

Liping (Penny) Yu brings nearly five years of quality assurance experience from working across chocolate and petcare segments at Mars.

Penny’s responsibilities included both co-packer and distribution quality management as well as raw material supplier quality management. She is a certified international auditor (IRCA) for ISO9001 and FSSC 22000 with a rich experience on auditing and continuous improvement. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and expertise through training and educating others in the food industry.

Penny holds a Master’s degree in Food Safety from Wageningen University in The Netherlands and a Bachelor’s degree in Food Quality and Safety from Jilin University in China.

Penny has strong scientific background in food microbiology. She evaluated the Whole Genome Mapping used for dairy factory contamination investigation of Cronobacter sakazakii and Salmonella in Nestlé Research Center in Switzerland. She was also involved in a project about the pathogenic excretion of Bacillus cereus and Listeria monocytogenes as well as detection of pathogenic microorganisms in various food samples.

Penny is fluent in Mandarin and English. She is excited to bring Commercial Food Sanitation's consulting services and sanitation experience to the food industry in China and throughout Asia Pacific.
